The Disney Hawaiʻi Theme Park Committee
The Disney Hawaiʻi Theme Park Committee will immerse delegates as they serve as senior Disney executives responsible for planning and developing a new Disney theme park on the island of Oʻahu. While creating a world-class destination that captures Disney's signature storytelling and guest experience, delegates must also navigate the unique historical, cultural, environmental, and political landscape of Hawaiʻi. This committee will explore the complex relationship between economic development, Native Hawaiian cultural preservation, environmental sustainability, and corporate responsibility.
Throughout the simulation, delegates will represent different departments within the company, including operations, finance, cultural respect, maintenance, transportation, hospitality, emergency response, and themed lands. Success in committee will depend on delegates' ability to balance Disney's business objectives with respect for Native Hawaiian traditions and concerns. Creative yet practical solutions, effective communication, and teamwork will be essential as participants work to design a park that is financially sustainable, operationally efficient, culturally respectful, and environmentally responsible.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Kelly Rodriguez (she/her) is a third year Communication Sciences and Disorders major with a minor in Deaf and Hearing Sciences. This will be her seventh year participating in Model UN since starting this journey her freshman year of high school. She is excited to direct at SwampMUN for the first time after previously directing three committees at Gatormun, UF’s fully in-person highschool conference. She also currently serves as the Secretary-General for SunMUN V, UF’s collegiate conference. Outside of MUN she participates in the student organizations Extreme Dance Company, Florida Players, and the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA). In her free time she enjoys crocheting for craft markets, reading, and color coding her planner.
