WHAT IS SWAMPMUN?
ABOUT SWAMPMUN
The Model United Nations Club at the University of Florida is pleased to bring you our first online training conference: SwampMUN
For this conference, previous knowledge is not required. Our conference diverges from GatorMUN in its purpose of reaching students in schools that were previously unable to participate from the comfort of their own homes. Students will be given the chance to learn the skills expected in a Model United Nations conference, such as how to steer debates, multitask between talking and writing, as well as how to make valuable allies both in-room and out-of-room.
For the weekend, students will transform into leading experts on pressing international issues with a variety of ideas. Simulating a global forum best teaches students the challenges and rewards that come with working with others and the presence of clashing solutions. Our goal is to maximize cooperation and diplomacy.
SwampMUN will only offer General Assembly committees simulating either a body of the United Nations or another political body. These councils will be tackling complex issues such as the protection of World Heritage Sites, the facilitation of trade, improving intelligence to combat terrorism, and more. We chose a wide variety of councils for delegates to choose from in the hopes that everyone finds something of interest.
SwampMUN is staffed by college student volunteers, primarily from the University of Florida. Some have been doing MUN since high school, others in college, and some not at all. What unites us is our mission to create a great conference that will shape the leaders of the future and ensure that they maximize their potential!
